The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) was established as the “Turkish private sector’s gateway to international arena” in 1988 for the specific purpose of establishing, promoting, and strengthening the Turkish private sector’s economic relationships with international businesses and organizations.
As part of its sector-oriented strategy, DEIK established the Health Tourism Business Council in 2010 under the leadership of the Turkish Accredited Hospitals Association and in partnership with Turkish Travel Agencies, Turkish Airlines, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and a group of domestic and international institutions.
The primary purpose of the Council is to enable the highly-developed Turkish health sector to achieve its well-deserved place in the international arena, and contribute to the global value chain with its high value-added services.
At this year's WMT & GMC, DEIK would like to showcase Turkey's potential as a regional and global health services provider and facilitate collaborations between its members and US entities, not only in terms of patient care but also for know-how sharing, educational affiliations, exchange programs and technology, said Dr. Rusen Yildirim, Chairman of DEIK/Health Tourism Business Council.
There has been recent research about the role that Turkey will play in globalization of medicine and we would like to share such reports with the WMT & GHC participants as well, he added.
