In a significant milestone in its entrance into the global market, the organization recently obtained Gold Membership of the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), the global think tank for the global medical tourism industry. In this interview, the Washington Women Plastic Surgery shares their journey in healthcare and what the future holds for the center with its recent membership of the MTA.

What do you do and how has your experience in the healthcare industry been?

Washington Women Plastic Surgery is a boutique aesthetic plastic surgery practice centrally located in the Capital of the United States, Washington DC. Doctors Catherine Hannan and Lauren Patrick are two Ivy-league educated, board certified plastic surgeons with over 20 years of combined experience who perform customized plastic surgery procedures with outstanding results. Their practice model is almost unheard of within the US: Dr. Hannan and Dr. Patrick perform most of their surgeries together, reducing the time under anesthesia for their patients, as well as optimizing the decision-making process before, during and long after the surgery procedure occurs.

How many international patients do you receive per year?

Most of our patients are from within the US; and only 5-10 patients come from outside the U.S every year, mostly from Canada.

What regions or countries do patients come from?

Most of our patients come from within the United States, and mostly from the central mid-Atlantic area of the US.

Do you have any patient stories you would want to include in the article?

We have mostly 5-star reviews as above, but these are our favorite:

"Drs. Hannan and Patrick are a dream team. To have two board certified surgeons relieved so much of my worry, and they are warm, personable and caring. They were always available to me throughout the process and most importantly, I could not ask for better results. I am so happy I chose them and highly recommend them."

"5/5 stars. I had an amazing experience with everyone here -- Amanda to coordinate all my appointments, Dr. Hannan/Patrick to actually do my surgery and then keep close tabs on me afterward. I am beyond thrilled with my results. I've since gone on to send a family member here too, and we ALL love this team for their compassionate and thorough care. Couldn't recommend enough!"

"I had my "mommy makeover" almost 2 years ago and it is absolutely the best thing i did for myself. I would never have done it without Dr. Hannan and Dr. Patrick. I trust them with my life. They are so caring, best surgeons and just wonderful women. Getting my surgery changed my life, the way I see myself, how I feel about myself and wish I did it sooner. It is hard sometimes to make such a big decision when it comes to surgery but as soon as you meet this team you will realize you are in good hands. Amanda coordinator will be always there to answer all your questions, and their care will never stop. I must warn you thou it is addictive, and you will want to come back for more and more :D

How do you see the future of medical travel?

The internet has made researching everything about surgery easy and instantaneous, and the Covid pandemic normalized remote patient healthcare visits. While patients already do travel for medical care, the future will allow for streamlined consultation, booking, travel and recovery processes.

What is something unique that you as a healthcare organization do?

Dr. Hannan and Dr. Patrick perform the majority of their surgeries together, reducing the time under anesthesia for their patients, as well as optimizing the decision-making process before, during and long after the surgery procedure occurs.
